8th Grade Promotion Ceremony

When & Where

To celebrate the promotion of our 8th grade students, we will be holding a promotion ceremony on Thursday, May 28th, 2026 that starts at 5:45pm at the Upper Arlington high school.  The entrance to the performing arts center is through the main entrance of the school.

Upper Arlington Performing Arts Center

1625 Zollinger Rd.

Upper Arlington, OH  43221

Students may begin arriving as early as 4:30pm. Students who arrive after 5:40pm will not enter the auditorium with their class.  They will be required to enter after the promoting students have walked in and sat down.  The students will begin processing into the auditorium at precisely 5:45pm.

Those parents/family members arriving at or after 5:40pm will not be permitted to enter until after all promoting students have entered the auditorium.  The doors to the auditorium will be closed at 6:00pm and no one will be admitted after that time.

Tickets

Those students who are promoted to 9th grade who have met the minimum requirements to participate (promoting to 9th grade and no yearlong failing grades) will be given 6 tickets, which will be required for admission to the event.  One ticket is required per person (human being), this includes infants/children, even if they do not sit in a separate seat.  Once you enter the auditorium you may only exit by getting a stamp.  If you fail to get a stamp, you will not be permitted back into the auditorium. Promoting students will not need a ticket.  Students receiving tickets in a sealed envelope will sign for them and take responsibility for them.  Lost tickets will not be replaced.  Teachers and staff will not be permitted to hold, distribute, replace, or otherwise handle tickets once they are handed to students.  Copies will not be accepted.  Tickets will be distributed on Tuesday, May 26th, 2026.

Attire

Promoting students may dress up for this event.  Many students in the past have chosen to wear suits and/or fancy dresses or outfits.  This event will be on a raised stage.  Parents/students must be cognizant of skirt length, as those in the front will be looking up at the stage.  *Clothing must be school appropriate*.  Promoting students will not wear caps/gowns, which is reserved for 12th grade graduation.

Seating

There will be seating in both the lower level and the balcony level.  This will be first come/first served.  No one will be permitted to stand in the aisles during the ceremony.  Pictures and video is permitted; however,  these must be done from the seat and other’s view must not be blocked.  *Absolutely no food or drink is permitted in the auditorium.  Balloons are not permitted in the high school or auditorium and must be secured in your vehicle if you bring them.  Any person attempting to bring balloons into the building will be asked to return them to their vehicle.  Please be respectful to the students and performers by silencing cell phones and not talking or disrupting during the performance.*  Upper Arlington has set forth these rules, so we must follow them.

Parking

The front parking lot is open to all who attend and is first come/first served.  Attendees may also park along the street adjacent to the high school or in the back parking lot.  There are often other events going on at the high school, so parking may be difficult.  Please plan on arriving earlier than expected to account for walk time from parking spots.
